MISSION STATEMENT: “Changing your Childs future, One Kick at a Time.”

PROGRAM STATEMENT: Hello, my name is Ronnell Jacobs. I am the owner of RJ Martial Arts located in Selbyville, Delaware. My mission statement is “Changing Family lives on kick at a time.” I follow this mission by providing a program that will teach each student self-respect, self-control, responsibility, and how to defend themselves and their loved ones in a time of danger. We are a certified program that practices Mutai, Tae Kwon Do, and Jiu Jitsu practices. This is a succeeding program that I, the states of Delaware and Maryland, along with many other countries, believe and trust in. Confidence, discipline, self-awareness, and expertise in body/stability is what we provide to our students. We will also give healthy coping behaviors and solid social connections. This program is no stranger to students and adults facing depression, anxiety, trauma, eating disorders, mental health, and pre-teen/teenager substance abuse. RJ Martial Arts is happy to collaborate with you and your child to help them grow and be empowered in a manner of righteousness.

RJ MARTIAL ARTS JOURNEY: Established in 2018, RJ had an idea to bring the ideology and practices of Tae Kwon Do he learned in his childhood back to our community. Starting at the Boys & Girls Club of Dagsboro we started with a minimal number of students, but it was a great start to our growing vision. During COVID we did not stop. Practices were held outside, and the community grasped and supported our vision. In 2020, RJ was given the opportunity to take over a well-known (and even legendary) establishment at 13 West Church Street, in Selbyville Delaware, formally known as KP Karate. This is where RJ himself grew up and learned then mastered the way of Tae Kwon Do, through Kurt Purnell. Kurt had previously had the establishment for over 30 years. RJ not only was able to hold his former students but also gained Kurt’s students as well. We continued to be blessed and our classes grew. Due to a growing economy and changes in our community, the facility was sold in 2022. This could have been a breaking point in our vision but with prayer and the help of peers, we were able to move quickly to a facility, despite the stress. Though the new facility is much smaller, it allowed us to continue to train. We were even able to add more outside training, that was enjoyed by the community. God continued to bless our vision, and in 2023 we were given the opportunity to move into yet another new, 2700 square foot facility that provides us more than enough room to continue to grow. RJ Martial Arts has served over two hundred students from locations including: Selbyville, Dagsboro, Dover, Milford, Phillip C Showell Elementary, Dagsboro Church of God, Bannick Park Location, and the State of Delaware. Our facility also houses other practices such as cheerleading, private lessons, and wrestling. As we continue to grow, we want to thank God for being by our side, and the community for never giving up on us!

Sensei Ronnell follows this mission by providing a program that will teach each student self-respect, self-control, responsibility, and how to defend themselves and their loved ones in a time of danger.
